Looking for the perfect gift for the book lovers in your life? Or maybe you’re a reader who just wants to treat yourself? Either way, you’ve come to the right place.
After being a fangirl for over a decade, I have several personal recommendations for your favorite avid reader. Say goodbye to boring bookmarks and hello to a world of literary fun. Ready to dive in? Here's my ultimate gift ideas guide for readers:
1. Book Ends
Book ends are a great option for your book lover - because they always need a way to hold up their new books…and we both know they ran out of shelf space years ago.
These little beauties aren't just about keeping your collection from collapsing into chaos. They’re about style, flair, and making a statement.
Personally, I love bookends. BUT...I've never bought them for myself. (Probably because all my book money ends up going into my audiobook fund haha.) And there's a good chance your reader hasn't, either. So go ahead and spice up their bookshelf for them ;)
Whether your favorite reader is into sleek and modern aesthetic or fun and funky vibes, there’s a pair of book ends that’s just waiting to jazz things up.
These chicken bookends, arrow bookends, and marble bookends are a few of my favorite options.
2. Neck Light - The New Generation of Book Lights
After YEARS of trying to find a good clip light that properly hooks onto a book (without making the book twice as heavy)...a hot new bombshell has entered the villa: this neck light.
Picture this: you’re cozied up in bed with your favorite book, and you have perfect lighting…without ever bothering your partner.
The light just wraps around your neck, lighting up your book so you can read until it’s time to go to bed…after one more chapter. No more eye strain!
If you really wanna take things to the next level...pair a book light with a pair of reflective glasses that let your reader lay down comfortably while still reading.
3. Kindle Clicker Page Turner - Perfect Gift for E-Readers
For the Kindle lovers out there, this one’s a game-changer. A clickable Kindle page turner means no more fumbling to swipe or tap while you're in your blanket burrito and too comfy to move. Just a click and you’re onto the next page. This is also a great option for readers who like to multitask - eating or walking on the treadmill while reading is a SKILL...and a page turner makes it just a little bit easier.
Psst! Wanna really take an e-reader book gift to the next level? Grab a book-themed pop socket, a clear Kindle cover, and some bookish stickers from your local bookstore. (Sticker-covered Kindles are all the rage these days, trust me.) You could even get them a Kindle Unlimited subscription, where they'll have unlimited access to stories they love...without having to purchase so many individual books.
4. Thumb Page Holder - Perfect for Reading Physical Books
Did you know that readers can strain their thumb by holding books open? (It's true. Reading is a contact sport.)
Enter the thumb page holder. This is basically a thumb ring, but it sticks out on the sides to keep your book open without nearly as much strain on the thumb. It not only makes the reading experience more comfortable, but also makes those reading marathons less of a health hazard XD
5. Book Sleeve
Book sleeves are like cozy sleeping bags for your books. They protect your precious reads from getting beat up in your bag, ensuring they stay as pristine as the day you bought them. (They're also super cute like these floral, padded, and marble designs).
If your favorite reader refuses to dog-ear their pages...
Or they always take off the dust jacket right away...
Or you think they'd relish the idea of a temperature-controlled library...
This is the gift they're looking for.
6. Personal Library Embosser or Stamp
As someone who became the "library" of my friend group...I know the heartbreak of having a book never be returned. So if you love lending out books (but you want to see them again), a page embosser is a great way to remind the reader where to send the book once they've finished the story. (It also just makes you feel really official.)
Not feeling the embosser? Try a personalized stamp instead.
7. Bookish Merch
Bookish merch is how we book people secretly identify one another in public. Just something that lets us connect in the most fun way. We’re talking t-shirts, tote bags, mugs, and more – all adorned with favorite quotes and designs.
If you've got a sports romance reader, check out "team spirit" for their favorite fictional hockey players. If you're a fantasy reader, there's a chance that someone's made a related graphic tee, like this "Ravenclaw Quidditch" T-shirt.
Book merch has made MAJOR improvements over the past few years (thank goodness), and now, book merch can also be a fashion statement like this "Bat Boys" T-shirt, perfect for ACOTAR fans. Who knew being a book nerd could look so good?
8. Reading Journal
Most readers love to keep track of the books they've read, which is why one of the best book gifts...is actually a journal.
There are lots of different reading journals out there, but I recommend making sure there is a designated space to fill in their star ranking and jot down a few thoughts about their reading experience.
Note: When in doubt, you can always grab a plain journal. Most readers like to write (for a lot of us, it's one of our biggest life goals). So, give them a journal...and they might come back with their own novel in a few months!
9. A First Edition
A "First Edition" is simply a copy of a book from the first print run. There's two ways you could go about giving your favorite bookworm a first edition.
If their favorite author has long since passed, a first edition book will be more expensive and rare, so keep that in mind when it comes to budget. However, there's something really magical about a first edition of a very old book. If you can find a true first edition, you'll have a really special gift on your hands.
Another option is to gift something related, like membership to the First Editions Club subscription service. I haven’t tried this one out personally, but it looks like such a fun gift - the club picks out new books that take creative writing to the next level. Their picks have gone on to be bestsellers and award-winning novels. As your reader collects more and more first editions, the most valuable their library becomes.
10. Book Holder
If you've ever tried to read while you're eating...then you know the struggle. Supporting your book on an incredibly sturdy book holder means comfortable, hands-free reading. Or, you can grab a pillow version that sits on your lap while you read - perfect for readers like to curl up with a blanket on the couch.
11. TBR Cart
Your bookworm likely has a “TBR” (To Be Read) Pile that’s about a mile long. Which is why the book girlies are resorting to putting together “TBR” utility carts to keep track of their next read.
12. Dust Jackets that Fit Their Aesthetic
I might be a little biased, but I think I’ve saved the best for last.
For a lot of readers, there’s a lot of joy that comes with looking at their perfectly decorated bookshelf. Find a set of book covers to style their stories in a new way. Whether they’re a fantasy fan who’s been waiting for their chance to lace up their flying leathers, or a fan of Monet’s classic Water Lillies painting, you’re sure to find a fit for any aesthetic.
